A heap of sand.
Granular trickles eddy down its slopes.
The wind meanders over the restless sea.
Foam falls in wet patches,
sucked back into the flow.
The tide creeps up,
runnels of salt water
encroach upon and undermine
the heap's foundations.
A larger wave rolls up -
rapidly engulfs it.
The heap dissolves abruptly,
revealing blue-white fingers
slightly curled, and beckoning.
Red nails.
A shock of blood to the head...
But no blood.
It's all washed away with the heap.
