Golden velvet

A streak of sun parts
the monotonous grey clouds,
and I rush outside
like an addict needing a fix,
my skin matte and thirsty
for a libation of rays...
I lift my face to their warm
penetrative embrace.

Pulsing and insistent,
golden velvet soaks into my pores,
enters me thickly,
like the finest amber liquor.
Cold ache pervading my bones
only a memory...
as I succumb to sweet union
with the sun, like a lover.
